Brooklyn native Marcus Motion claims public space by converting
relinquished objects and the barren walls of his surroundings into
life-infused pieces with a distinct agenda: "To find the beauty and
importance in all things deemed ugly or irrelevant". His work trickles
throughout the city, and are usually accompanied by aphoristic and/or
cryptic messages such as "you are all that makes the day beautiful"
and "being straight is gay".  His more recent work infuses public
displays of personal conviction with socially relevant themes. Marcus
is very well known for being amply candid and many see him as an
inspired cultural figure.
